A few months ago i converted back to FW from SW due to lack of finance and skimmer problems. however, since moving back over, despite being excited at first i do really miss the SW side due to the amount of life (not just fish) in the nice rocky setting.

everything about SW seems to be more bright and colourful than FW.

i come back to FW as a sort of stand in until i could afford to go back to SW but now seem to be a bit bored and each time i go into my LFS i end up looking at the SW fish and hardly bothering with the FW.

can anyone convince me to stick it out with FW until i can afford SW again or even why they think FW may have its advantages(not financially cos i know them)?

You need a project.

Find a fish you would like to breed and raise to sub-adult. A nice tricky one that will eat up your spare time.

well just out of curiosity what kind of fw set up do you have? (type of fish, etc.) If i were you i'd take the "break" as a chance to do more research and really spark a new dimension in the salty side for you maybe.

my set-up in my signature with bogwood and a few live plants.

i was gonna try breed rams in my set-up but my male pestered the female to death?

any more suggestions?

tbh i think your problem is tank size
whilst nano tanks and other small marine setups look good, I feel that with freshwater fish you really do need to go that little bit bigger in order to get the most out of the hobby.

well can anyone say why they like FW over SW or is anyone the same as me and prefer SW but other reasons stopping you converting?

Try breeding a challenging species. This should give you a nice challenge if you have never done it before.

I see you tried with rams. Don't get discouraged if everything goes wrong. It takes technique and finesse to get your fish in top breeding condition. Even if everything goes right there aren't any guarantees the eggs will make it.

You can do it!
