i've succesfully kept 3 red bellied piranahs in a 55 gallon with 6 buck-toothed tetras and a pleco. Mind you this didnt last too long as I got rid of the piranahs because my mom didn't like them and she kept complaining about the tank.

Piranhas can be kept in large enough tanks with exodons, the exodons are in same case aggressive enough to back a piranha into a corner, and eat its scales off.

Hello ..

so i have sold of my marine stuff and made a fair bit of money and am going to start a piranha tank...
i am getting some red bellie babies in about 3 weeks but wanted to know if anything can be put in with them... i have read some articles where plecs and some nocturnal fishes have lived happily with piranhas and just wanted to know if anyone else has any experience or knows if any other fish can be added with them..
hey piranhas are cool!yupp you can keep them with arowanas, pacus(the piranhas cousin),oscars, alligator gars,
the piranhas are bad #16##### but ive seen oscar fish stand up them go to youtube oscar fish vs piranha the piranha backs down..ive seen them with aros, plecs, alligator gars and 90% with their cousins the pacus

Piranha are a species that should be le[t by themselves. Only time a pirahna will back down from on oscar is one on one fight,,, pirahna should b kept in large groups .

Just decide if you want a species tank or a community tank and understand the difference! Sorry to be blunt, but it's usually the best way to make an important point!

I've seen a large plec in with adult piranhas but it's irrelevant to my subtle point. Piranhas are specialist fish for those interested in trying to recreate natural habitats. Those more interested in collecting diversity rather than appreciating diversity should stick to community tanks or collect plates.

The answer is absolutely YES You can put jack Dempsey in with piranhas and Oscars and pacu Anything that will stand its ground with piranhas is OK as long as you don't let the piranhas get hungry Cuz they will even eat there own when they do.
Here is a clip of My jack dominating my piranhas. i also had a Oscar and pacu in there On occasion the Oscar would get shaggy fins from the piranha nips But that's what they do even to each other. here's the link to my piranha tank sharing space with other fish. They only thing is that when they are hungry they change like vampires or ware wolfs hahaha They will be scared of a fish when full but turn into a freak when hungry so if you keep other fish with them NEVER let them go hungry they will turn on everything including each other. The second link here shows the results of neglecting feeding time

I'd go with feeders if i could get something to breed easily and could be fed well. it'll save me money in the long run and as long as i do it right should be no issues.

Get a tank of male and female mollies. You will be able to feed them like there's no tomorrow.

:good: :good: :good: i breed guppies and mollies and swordtails ( the ones i dont want to keep become the next meal for my Red belly's ) keeps cost down on feeder fish and ( its like having having a fancy lunch " $150 for 4"X4" steak)
