Hello friends:

I recently purchase a 24" TopFin bubble wand and a 15" MarineLand bubble wand. Neither wand produced an even line of bubbles down the whole length of the wand. Some sections produced no bubbles at all. I was supplying it with a Whisper 40 air pump with no other gang valves opened so that should have been more than plenty to pump air through all the openings.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bubble wand that puts out a uniform stream of bubbles across the entire length of the wand?

Thanks

I used the "green" type for years. Sorry don't remember the brand name but they are sold everywhere. That's the best I've used IMO. If neither of those are producing uniform bubbles it sounds like your air pump or some other issue. Are you using a check valve? How far does the air have to travel through the tubing before making out the other end?

The only issue I ever had was like once every 6 months I've had to scrub the algae off of it as algae will clog them over time.

I use THESE and I love them! They work great! Their easy to clean and re-use use after use.

Thanks everyone.

In answer to the questions, I'm using a Whisper 40 air pump solely dedicated to the wand and it is on the floor. I have an airline running from the pump on the floor to a gang valve on the tank with a check valve in line (about 4 feet of tubing) and then another line from the gang valve to the wand (probably 1.5 feet fron the gang valve to the wand in the tank).

Fishkies....It looks like you are using the Marineland wand. I had ordered both a TopFin green wand and the Marineland wand from PetCo. I found both unsatisfactory in terms of uniform bubble output down the length of the wands. I put both in a bucket of water in the hopes that they might just need to be soaked and will try them both again in a few days. Maybe it is my airpump output. The pump is about a year old and I did notice the small circular felt air intake filter on the bottom is getting quite dirty but the replacement filters looks like a special order from somewhere.

Maybe you have too much tubing for the amount of pressure you are sending. Or perhaps you have a leak somewhere in the chain.
