Breeding

I havnt had much success in the past with breeding, although i havnt really tried.

After reading an article in PFK this month, about how to breed neons, i am desperate to try to breed something, this is what i have:

heater
algarde 45 sponge filter powered by air pump
desktop lamp
very little in the way of substrate- is this a problem, or shall i go bear on the bottom?
tank of about 26l i think, something like 18"x10x10.

My question is, what shall i have a go at? i am not really looking for a challenge, just want to breed something, that will be suitable in my setup.

Obvious choice, probably guppies? although i struggle to keep them alive tbh, im not sure what it is with my tapwater, or maybe just weak inbred specimins in my area of the country.

when me an Mrs biffster used
to breed neon's we used to
cover the bottom of the tank
with marbles two layers deep
that way when they scatter the
eggs they fall down between the marbles
and don't get eaten which means more
survive to hatch just as soon as you see
fry above the marbles remove the parents

sounds good . I did wonder why some tanks that i looked at had marbles.
