Breeding

So i've gone and got myself another fish tank as i am keen to get in to some breeding of fish.

I am looking for some advice on something to breed that is relatively easy and can be done in a 70ltr tropical fish tank. (juwell rekord 600)

Ive been looking at Galaxy Rasboras recently as they are very beautiful.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated, looking for lots of opinions people

Obviously livebearers and Corries breed quite easily in that kind of tank.

livebearers - - guppies, mollies, platies
corydoras
kribensis cichlids
maybe a pair of bristlenose plecos?

im liking the look of the kribensis cichlids from what ive read up on so far, have you bred them yourself?

I have not yet had the change to breed them myself...I am currently breeding my African Clawed Frogs and that is enough of an adventure for me at the moment!!

I mentioned kribensis for a few reasons

a) easy to sex
b) your tank would be easy to set up for them
c) they have a part in raising the young
d) they are not as common as livebearers or corys so you shouldn't have trouble moving the fry to new homes

yeah that sounds very good, thinking about it out of the 10's of fish shops ive been to in recent months ive only ever seen them in a couple of them.

decision made then i think, just need to get hold of a pair now

sounds great!! you can probably buy some online - - best bet is to buy one female and a few males, then let them pair up naturally ( the female can be picky/bossy from what I have heard ) then get rid of the excess males.



edit: oh! and be sure to keep a breeding log on here so we can follow along!! (and we love pictures!!)

i certainly will do, my housemate is a photographer so will get some beautiful pictures to! thank you very much for your help.


edit: i think i might be able to pick some up at Abys in Stockport, they usually have a very comprehensive selection of fish there so ive heard, going for the first time this weekend
