Im hungry. ima go eat a banana.

The problem you face is if you hearts's not in it maybe before spending all your dad's money on a new pricey set up sit down and think if thats actually going to get you enjoying fish again  As you know theres going to be problems and possible diesease, Are you sure not not going to think sod it in six months when you buy a new fish and introduce whitespot.......Maybe stick with what you have for a while and see how you feel in a few month's :good:

   -_- :/  oooooookay then. i didnt say i would spend all my dads $$$. i can pay for some, cuz my dad is selling sum of my stuff on amazon.com, and givin me the money. so i'd say i'll hav at least $50 to help w/ costs. plus, i'm overstocked im my tanks (due to livebearers :fun: ) so i need a bigger tank anyways. ANNND i'll buy medicine, just in case my fish introuduce diseases. ANNND i can use one of my old tanks as a quarintine, to quarintine new fish for a week or so until i put them in the main tank. ANNND i just thought of something! my aunt and uncle hav an old 50 gallon tank in their basement! i can ask them 4 it..... hmmm THERES a thought..........

Got some enthusiasm this one... Sure does. I went through the same thing around your age after i had begun fish keeping. Was bored of it and almost gave up. I dont think you need a new tank or a bigger one. My Favorite is my 5G because i took the time to plant it all aqauscape how i liked it.

I was reading your tank list and fish list and those are great tank sizes for someone to start planting. (if they arn't already)

Start by taking a look in the planted threads and so some research about different plants and lighting and such before buying anything (you or dad) this should keep you busy and hopefully it will keep you interested enough know until your older and can aford a larger tank.. And think if you got good now at this plant and aquascape thing with your 10G's then imagine what your 40 or 50 will look couple years down the road.

Just a thought. Was nearing end of highschool when i really enjoyed trying to plant the tanks.

The love life will some, your young, real young dont worry about it.

I don't think you actually got what i ment........Just you say your bored of fish and by the sounds of it you are young? My neice who is now fourteen wanted so desperatly terripins a couple of years ago, she feed them, changed water regularly, cleaned filter etc etc, Now shes lost ALL intrest in them, Now muggins here has to drive over there and do waterchanges for her cut there claws etc etc......So i managed to buy a very good external filter for a cheap price which now takes the load of my back for a bit :good:
What iam saying is your young, get intrested like all youngsters, get it care for it then the novolty wears off and they start to become neglected......Lord knows i did my fair share as a child<hampsters/rats/mice/stick insects/cats/rabbits with guinea pigs and they all ended up as my dad as the main carer......
Just trying to insure you know what your doing before going out and getting more, As this hobbie does sometimes have bad outweighing the good, just look for posts saying, "right thats it i give up" "another problem help"

All the fish you listed are standard run-of-the-mill fish. Maybe you should look at different sorts such as Malawis or even marine - or perhaps just bigger fish like bala sharks if you get a big enough tank.

Or buy a Playstation .......

Who was rude?? nobody..

other: something a bit bigger! angelfish maybe :D

I think Inchworm just wanted to warn ahead of time seein as they were predicting of flame showers in the thread. Glad no one needed their suits though. And the problem Ally had stated was she didnt have size tank to house angel fish or anything similar size. Overstocked tanks and tight budget make it hard to keep it light. SW sounds cool too, but isnt the cost higher to start than FW? Best of luck Ally

actually, he already deleted the rude comment. yes, i am young, im 12, and i wuz just kidding about the luv life thing, lol. as i already stated, i am needing a bigger tank, cuz i hav 30+ lil fish divided into 2 ten-gallon tanks. i want a bigger tank, either for my current fish, or for sum new fish. i dont like SW, i like FW. cheaper and easier for a kid. thnx 4 clearing things up Darkerwhite, i dont hav the proper housing, even for the fish i hav now. i keep explaining this to my dad, but all he says is that he has a degree in biology and i dont, and the fish are happy in a HUGE group in a SMALL tank. and he laughed at my answer on Yahoo Answers to someones fish-related question. and he thinks its funny to give my fish more oxygen, cuz i hav 1 air pump and a divider that divides the air to both tanks, so we hav to tighten one tube so they get even amunts of air, and he thinks its funny to loosen the one, so only one tank gets air. huh.

Hi ally86ozzy :)

It sounds like you are more frustrated than bored with your tanks. I can't say I blame you! When you get bogged down when you have a lot of baby fish and more on the way, and a parent who is less supportive than he might be, it's natural to feel that way.

Perhaps you could speak to your aunt and uncle about their old tank. If they aren't going to use it anymore, perhaps they will give it to you. Many people who stopped keeping fish hate to throw away a perfectly good aquarium that they spend a lot of money on, but would give it (or sell it cheap) to someone who could make use of it.

You'll also need some plan for getting rid of the excess fish, at some point. If you don't, you'll just end up with the same problem on a bigger scale. There are many egg laying fish that you could consider that won't pose that problem for you.

Don't worry about being young on this forum. We have members of all ages and some of the youngest are surprisingly good at keeping fish.

Hang in there Ally... in my 40 years of keeping fish, I've been bored with 'em about 38 times.... it comes & goes, but never lasts for more than 2 months.

It sounds like you are more frustrated than bored with your tanks.

I'd have to agree with that,

If you've only been introduced to fishkeeping via a couple of 10G tanks then you haven't really experienced 95% of fishkeeping
Its almost like being taken to a great theme park and then being told your only allowed to go on one little ride,
