I have had sand in my tank since it was set up about 3 months ago now. I was doing my routine vac and water change and noticed that in places the sand has gone blue. Does anyone know what may have coursed this or had it happen to them?

Is it a greeny blue? Maybe algae?

Either that of maybe some medication.

I think it may be algae? Keep us posted!

I was expecting to see a funky tank setup! I think it could be some sort of Algae mate. Some of my fine graven has gone the same way although it's not actually blue but definately a different colour to what it should be.

Mine does this in my small cory tank under the stones the sand is blue/grey no idea what it is though

It's probably a kind of anaerobic bacteria. Jury's out on whether the gases it can produce are dangerous to fish or not, but it's best syphoned out IMO.
