Hello All,

I am trying to locate a NICE Blue Acara in the midlands area. I dont mind travelling, i have travelled to Liverpool and Derby for fish in the past. I live in Stoke-On-Trent.

I want one as young as possible (1" would be perfect).

Ive been to look at some today and they looked like goldfish, lol. I want one of a really good quality, similar to the one Mark had for sale in the below link...

Any Advice Appreciated

Well Marks is a very nice example and is wild caught, so has good colouration, in the West Midlands the only place I saw some recently was Hollybush, J11 of the M6, however its not a great LFS IMO (others seem to like it) but they a couple of tanks of them recently. If not, try MA in birmingham or Telford.

Or I know its a trek, but strangeworld has one up in the classifieds needing a new home : http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=298385

Thanks for reply.

Ive spoke to strangeworld about his but wanted something a bit younger really.

I will try MA in telford or birmingham, thanks. Will ring them first to see if theyve got any in.

Oh just remembered Prestwood Petszone nr Kidderminster had some a week ago, they might still have some, give them a call.

Thanks very much, will give them a try.

Have you seen many of the LFS Blue Acara?

What are they like? I understand that the one i posted a picture of is an exceptional one, but do many of the LFS Blue Acara come close?
Ive seen some really shabby ones this week.

Cheers

I got my wild caught Aequidens Coeruleopunctatus (Green Acara), from Coxwell Aquatics (just off the M54 J3),
to the average fishkeeper these look just like Aequidens Pulcher (blue Acaras) and are really stunning

Cant say Ive seen exceptionally good ones around, but then I dont pay them much attention and most are very small. As Davo says the green's in Coxwells are very nice.

Davo, how did you get on today? Did you go to MA mere park?

Thanks very much,

Coxwells is only about an hour from where i am.

Dave - Have you got a picture of your green? Do they vary much in temperment and size to the blues?

Cheers

Mine seems quite chilled out Gaz, From what i've seen they seem to act pretty much like a blue acara,
will try and get a pic now whilst I get pics of my two new arrivals

went to Moreton in the end Minx, so pics will be up shortly

Cheers Davo,

I will give them a ring tomorrow and might me paying them a visit shortly!

Thanks alot.

He doesn't seem to want to play atm, so this is the best i could get,
You can still clearly see the colours, his dorsal and tail fins are bright orange to red and he has a blue to green shimering

Will post a better pic once my other camera is charged

Cheers dave,

I can see that hes a nice fish though even though its a bit blurred! You can see the irredescent blue stripes and the red on the fins!

I will deffinitely be getting one of these, ive wanted one for about 4 years but always had a community tank, finally got a decent tank and its empty so i think its about time.

Thats not a true BA^ its a latifrons (Gold Acara)

True BA's are more intense blue/green and have a silver line on there top fin (not gold)

I just assumed as thats what the thread was about...

Edit: my bad Davo..just read your post earlier....###### hang over :p
