Would I be OK to add a new bichir to my tank who is twice the size of my current bichirs? This b is about a foot long, and my current two are 6".

Ta :good:

Hopefully he will see this  The difficulty is deciding which one to get... Or just one

Haha! Of course I will see this. My Bichir alarm was going off!

The Endlicheri, Lap or Congi could be a problem. The Buetti and Weeksii will be fine IMO.
They all may be OK, but not worth the risk.

Now if you were to get the Endli/Lap/Congi at a smaller size (say the size of the 2 you have) there will be more chance of them getting along. No 100% but more chance.

My Weeksii has started coming out of it's shell a little lately, and I have a new found love for it. Absolutely under rated fish!

Here is mine:

Thanks, I was thinking about the congi or lap as well  Your weeksii is lovely though!

Trouble is these fish are a nightmare to get over here, and these are the smallest I can get.

When you say the bigger guys could be a problem do you mean in terms of aggression? There's no chance they'd eat the other two is there?

not sure what bichir you had as the posts have been deleted, i have mixed a large amount of differnt bichir's , I've had some really small ornate's in with my larger bichir's and never had any problems. My congicus got to about 2ft when i sold it (wish i hadnt)and it was in with an 8inch senegal with no problems.

I'm gonna get the Endli endli as I originally wanted :hyper: Hopefully my other two and them will get along.

I wish I could get my hands on these fish easier.

Good luck!
I would try get captive bred Endli, they tend to have less unpredictable aggression compared to WC.
@ Always4lora, you must have been very lucky! I have 7 Congicus from 12" up to 25" and they are all very brutal.

Never underestimate.
Here is a 15" Endli snacking on an 8 inch Palmas ( similar to Senegal)

They were happy tank mates for quite some time!

i had 3 congicus and all were very mild, i had an 18inch endlicherri and it was a viscous #29### so had to get rid

I 'think' it is a captive bred one I've ordered as it doesn't say it's wild caught. I've emailed him to ask though. He's arriving tomorrow, so I'll post some pics :) I don't know exactly what size I'll get, they were down as 15cm+.

With fish it's always a risk, so you just have to try and gauge things on your individuals. My Ornate is chilled out and very fat, and my Senegalus doesn't stop moving very much and is a right fatty as well, so I think they will be OK. Of course the Endli may be a right brute or the Ornate may have a personality change when she gets bigger, but I'll cross that bridge IF I come to it.

Thanks for help :)

Good luck!

How long did the Endli take to get to 18" and was it WC or CB?

Not mine, don't know the age.

But takes a few years to get really big.
