Betta Help Needed! (lost Sight + Smell)

I am really sorry about your fishy. You really loved him to have tried like you did. He is now in the big pond in the sky swimming with all the other bettas.....I am crying and that is really silly, but I think my beautiful Obi will soon be leaving me.....hugs for you xx

Thank you so much guys.
All those suggestions are very helpful. I think I will bury him in our garden. The stream would have been nice, but the feedback from GERM was good to know it is not safe, endangering other creatures. I hope to bury him tomorrow as it is finally supposed to be not so hot and sticky out.

The rosebush sounds like a special, lilfishie. For my sister-dog who passed away, we planted her a weeping cherry tree with her ashes. Unfortunately, the tree did not survive for too long. The next time we planted a dogwood tree for my dear cat who passed away, that one is still alive and blooms every year. We did not put all of his ashes that time, in case that was why the weeping cherry tree didn’t survive.

Liz2, I am sending hopes and wishes and comfort over to you and Obi. Also, the beautiful beta fish beneath your name, is breathtaking in beauty! Thanks again. Now, I have to find who I can give all these things (tank, medications, foods- some still unopened yet, net) to another living with a betta fish or tropical fish. If any of you live in the Boston area and are interested, let me know. I do know a few people I recall at least a year or two ago, had betta fish.

Warmest Regards,
Hana

I'm so, so sorry about your loss. It hurts so much to lose any of my fish, no matter how long I've had them...He was so lucky to have been raised by you--you showed so much love and care for him--which I'm sure he felt and appreciated.

I, too, went through the question of what to do with my fish after he died a month ago. One of the best suggestions was to bury him, but I live in a rental apt. and would feel funny leaving him here. And I feel funny asking my husband's dad if I can bury him in his yard. But I love the idea of planting something in his honor!

So bettaboy remains in a little white box in my freezer until I figure out what to do with him. I, too, would love to return him to the water (not via the toilet), but understand the concern for spreading illness to other fish...

Be gentle with yourself.

Many warm hugs,
Wendy

;) BURIED "TROY" TODAY:

Once again, thank you all for your love for animals, your support, and advice. Today, my family gathered together in our backyard, in a shady place that is still near our deck, so in sight. My mother planted part of our beautiful Bleeding Heart plants there (which I think are so beautiful). We also, put Troy into a very small but nice, dark brown, wooden urn. We also included a big, happy, bright colored candle of a cheerful fish, that we kept next to the tank, to bring him smiles through his days.

We all participated, and even my two cats (who aren't good friends with each other, but lovable when along with us!) were curious on the event and gathered around with us. My family, each of us took a part witih either digging, planting, covering up, etc. So, I wish him happy, joyful, heavenly years up in heaven.

Warmly and gratefully,

Hana ;)

Glad you found a suitable place to bury him, hope all goes well in the future, and if you ever plan on keeping another fish you know where to come.
Thanks for the offer of your help if ever needed, no worries, happy to do my bit and help someone out.
