Being Fussy

Every week a look at my deco inside of my tank and think I can do better, always swooping things around and buying new plants or ornaments but still can't get it the way it will look good. Today i got an ornament and will place it in the tank next water change and hope it will be good to my eyes and I said to myself this will be the last time (said this so many times) as it's not good for the fish keep messing around within the tank.

So is there anyone else like myself very fussy about your tank and change things around often or is it just me being so fussy

Hope after my change tomorrow it will be the last for a long time when i have done the change i will post some photos up to see if anyone likes it or its just me be nice to see your tank as i have looked at some many to get some ideas.

Im very fussy, I just can't get it right.

I think it's a case of 'you do it yourself, you don't like it' Im sure i'll get there though!

I think it takes a while to get it how you like it because you tend to daydream or think of these great looking tanks. You buy some rocks or driftwood and in yout head it looks amazing but when you get it in its completely different to how you imagined it. Get some pics up of before and after! Good luck with the scaping!

i used to be.. but not these days..so long as my oscar is happy then so am i.. my tank looks lovely without any fuss

I'm fussy in the sense that I won't add unnatural decor to my tanks (unless it looks natural, like bone, rock and wood). I have a lot of silk plants and while they're great, I wish I had live in those tanks. I just can't be hacked with trimming and planting up 7 tanks . . . I have two with live and they're plenty of work thank you very much.

I do plant and re-plant quite a lot in my planted tanks but not enough to stress the fish too much.

Nice improvement
I can generally get my tanks looking the way I want from the startup, but I am fussy about how they look and I keep a skewer next to them to tweak plants into place etc

I liked the big rock arrangement in the before, but I like the little stones around it in the after photo. But I do like the plants around the little stones.

I also think the wood looks nicer after too (can't see the 2nd picture ).

At the end of the day you have to go with what you like the look of; you look at it every day and it's a big centre piece in most rooms; if it was a piece of decoration you'd want it just right, so why not your tank?

Cheers! I agree its a normally a focal point in your house so you want it to look good. Its also down to your taste aswell if you like bright coloured decor use it as long as your fish are happy.

Just noticed how much the sword plants have grown!

i used to be very very picky about how my tank was set up....two different colored sands mixed just so, with river rocks, plants, drift wood....but then my ACF grew big enough where they became a designing disaster!!! they are such robust swimmers with extremely powerful back legs...

here is a series of what they did....with my level or remaining sanity

sand kicked up so it clouded the water and clogged the filter
river rocks kicked into the glass
drift wood knocked over
plants up rooted


now they are in a bare bottom tank with floating live plants...and they seem quite happy and i am keeping my sanity

lol i have friends who keep their ACF in decorated tanks no problem....but my male Phantom - he is a menace!!! i figured my females might be the culprits...until i saw Phantom in the act lol

So it's not only me I have rearrange my tank now so tomorrow I will put a couple of photos up before and after After i come back from my holidays next month i will be buying a few real plants to go in so it will be more realism as i don't want all plastic or silk plants. but changing it around the fish seems to be happier
