Well... I spotted a few ich spots on one of my neons yesterday evening. Very lousy timing since I am going away for the weekend this weekend.

So far, it seems only two spots on one neon and I haven't noticed any spots on any of the other fish... and no other symptoms at this point... so I hope that means it will be an easy treatment. (and the reason I didn't post in emergencies)

Anyhow... any advice on handling ich considering I am going to be away from Friday night until Sunday evening? I am currently treating the entire tank with malachite green rather than treating only the one fish... two reasons, because I've had bad experiences with ich in the past (with goldfish) and because I am going away and don't want to risk that another fish comes down with it while I am away and not there to treat.

Anyhow.... do you think I am good just following the regular dosing... sort of all I can do? I will end up missing a dosing during the time I am away.

My neon seems to have only one ich spot this morning... so I hope that is a good sign already, and I can't see any spots appearing on others.

If you were using Waterlife Protozin to treat, starting from today you could do days 1/2/3 dosing before your short break and the final dose is not until day 6 anyway.

I've only got one pet shop that *might* carry that.... but I swore off going there as they mistreat their animals and fish. I might have a peek in there. Otherwise, I haven't anywhere to get any less common brands on short notice.

No luck with different medication... but good news is I am very sure I've caught the ich at the beginning as its already responding to the medication and heat... so hopefully it will be easily wiped out.
