Are My Neons Really Neons?

The betta can be moved into a sperate tank right away. the 5 gallon can be its home and the 8.5 gallon for the others that is your mothers position acording to you am I wrong? then you need to try and get her to split the cardinals up and put some in the 5 gallon. Althought this is not a solutionit is a start. As for bringing in more fish I'm totaly against that if you cant convince your family to take care of the fish they have you shouldnt bring any more fish into the house. even if a 200 gallon needs to sit empty.

I have to agree with opcn and CS on this one. You definitely have no room to bring in anymore fish at all. Settle this problem before you even think of getting more fish.

P.T.

Woah 14 cardinals in a 5gallon

IS it possible to take any of your fish back to where you got them from??

BTW you cant keep an Angel fish in a 8.5 gallon for long...

whoa :S my head is spining
so we restarted this thred i see to get off on a better foot
SimonA, the only reason any of us got our panties in a bunch was because we thought you were ignoring our advice and being a bit cheeky
you should have just spoke up and said "my mom is the culprit, she won't let me do a thing"
i've seen this before
ya know what you have to do?
without being disrespectful of tone, be blunt
by best girlfriends mother pulled this on her
she had incompatable fish, so she decided, for their fishes welfare that she would have to return some
her mom flipped out and was all upset because she had gotten attatched and named them
so my friend bluntly said "if we don't do something they will all die one by one"

SimonA,
walk up to your mother and say
"i have been doing research and learning more and more about fish
it turns out, angels cannot live in anything smaller then a 30gallon or they will become sick (rather then explain what stunted means just say "sick")
our angel has already started, and we have way too many fish and not enough room to swim,
in order to fix this disaster i need a 30gallon tank
if you do not want more then one tank i will sell the rest
we can place the big tank wherever you want
but if i don't fix this our angel will slowly twist and deform and our "neons" (cardinal tetras) will perish one by one" (too much fish waste causing nitrate, but for your mothers sake, keep it simple)

remember if you speak respectfully but with confidence and grace, then who is your mother to argue
you obviously know what you are talking about (or as much as we've told you ;) )
and she obviously has no clue whatsoever other then "oooh pretty fish"

if she chooses where the tank goes and you give them the profit from the tanks you've sold, then i'm sure once they realize that you are being responsible and not greedy, they will come around
hell, they might even brag about you to their friends
telling of their "genious son who really knows his way around fish"
all the while we on the forum will provide you with the knowledge to keep this reputation

phew,
i'm chatty today

I might be buying a 4' x 1' (' is foot right?) tank off my mate.
Yes, you said that but you also said that you were not allowed to move the angel into the 8.5UK because she wants to keep it downstairs.

You also just said "might be buying".

All of your fish will die one by one. Your angel is already dying from not having enough room or not having been able to grow. All of your fish will be having problems with overcrowding and bad water quality.

You started this thread asking about neons and then again asking about buying more fish, you cannot house more fish. You cannot house the ones you have. You should not buy any more fish because of this. You should put the angel alone in the 8.5UK (downstairs if needs be). You must explain this to your mum because until she understands she will not be able to help you.

Everyone is just repeating themselves here and I know that I have spent a lot of time replying to you on this topic recently (not only this thread) but it's up to you to sort it out and understand and also to help your parents.

I think so.

hi were in uk are you,i have a tank for sale mite be out of ur price rance its in buy sell and swap if u want to tae a look the bigger 1 is fine for ur angel as i had a pair in there amongst other fish

I agree with pointy_kitty, Youe must tank to your mum (smile sweetly whilst doing so and say please and thank you!) I know she doesn't want them moving, but she is only going to end up with a tank full of dead fish - not so pretty to look at!

Who cleans the tank out - you or your mum?
