#1.. I have a cleaning hose for the tank.. will this suck up the sand??
#2.. Where can I get this stuff cheap.. I saw stuff about pool filter sand... Is this usable?? can I just sand I find outside if i boil it??

Okay - not sure where to buy it. I found mine at my aquarium store here in the States. I believe you can use pool filter sand though also.

You just swirl the tube about 1/2" to an 1" above the sand and it will suck up the debris sitting there. Very easy actually. I also use the handle of my net to dig in the sand a bit and release any gasses that have built up.

here in the UK Argos Playsand is good and cheap

silver sand is very good u can get it at any garden center in the uk for about £3.49 for a large bag

Yes, it will suck up sand. Although to clean the sand you just need to put the hose right above the surface. Make sure it is not to close for it to suck up sand though. Usually i the sand is undisturbed (meaning not moved around) then all the stuff such as fish poo and uneaten food will rest on the bottom occasionly moving from water flow.
