So i'm thinking of getting a young pair of these guys from a seller online... what do people think of them?

They do best in trios of 1 male 2 females. If you want colour i would go for apistogramma agassizii my profile pic is of my male.

Like most of the Apistos they are stunning, check out agassizi and borelli, I think with your cockatoo variety they come flame orange and high red, opal ones on the borelli are nice too

The 3 mentioned need a tank space minimum 60cm

I like the fiery red so prefer the caca over the others which seem all yellow to me? He sells them as pairs not trios so hope that's ok. I have a 120 litre so fine for apistos

a pair should be fine - I had 3 females and one male and the dominant female made the other females lives a misery!

Gounds nice. I used to have a pair but the males died. Where abouts are you? ive got a female for sale. They can do fine in pairs its just in smaller tanks the males can be a little pushy so if you have the space its best to go for a few females.

1 male to 2 females is fine, issue you may find with 1 pair, is that they may not get on. If that is the case, get an extra female

I love my little Apistos, they`re great. The male is a confident little chap and he has quite a funny personality
