I had a pair of orange a. cacatuoides but the female died. My excellent lfs ran out of the orange morph. I emailed Aquaticclarity and Aqua Huna asking if they would sell me two females. Both sellers sell cacatuoides in pairs. I have bought fish from both companies on several occasions. Instead of a return email saying they could not accommodate my request, both sellers just did not respond to my query. I find that aggravating. I think both socially and in business people should respond to emails. It is the civil thing to do.

So they didn't say no.....
In today's competitive market often times my choice of who to purchase from comes down to customer service. If a company charges a couple bucks more for a product but provides excellent customer service, I find value in that. I know I'm getting more for my money.
Also, it takes like 30 seconds ro reply to am email.

I know from being in the office of a seller that some mornings, there'd be 200 messages, and 150 of them would be window shoppers. A number would be attempts to get illegal imports, or impossible fish. Maybe, in the end, 10 of them really wanted fish they had, and 5 of them were willing to buy without demanding discounts. But if you're in the business and want to sell stuff, you have to answer them.

aquaticclarity is basically a one person operation and he can be slow to repsond or miss emails depending on what else is going on so the best thing to do with them is email him again or call him.

I may be the devil's advocate, but customers can be a problem in the online world. When I sold fish, a large percentage of the people who order fish take you through getting shipping info and all, and then ghost. It can run as high as 4 out of 5 some weeks. Their fish buying fantasy eats your time and energy, and it's the internet that enables that.
A lot of one or two person companies fall behind, and one or two person companies tend to be the ones selling uncommon fish.

So customer service drops as the volume of impulse customers rises. No one I know of went into a rare fish store, got you to bag fish and ran off without paying (or taking the fish). Face to face, it would have been too embarrassing. But online it's normal.

Still, if you don't get back to people, you sell nothing.

I certainly can see this being and issue have long since suspected this is why the pendulum has swung in the other direction.

How long ago did you email? If done properly incoming emails are going to be handled on a first come, first served basis. I don't mind if a response takes a couple of days from an outfit that I know does a high volume.

Also, if an email is sent on a weekend, is there any working staff available to answer until the following Monday, and there is likely to be a high amount of emails to answer which can delay a response further.

I just had my buying attempt fall through. It took day 3 to get an answer (the fish I wanted most had only 3 remaining -it's a shoaler and I wanted 10) but the seller works alone for everything - ordering, maintenance, communications and shipping. So there, I expect slowness.

He knows me - we've met and had good conversations. He's getting a new shipment Monday and probably won't get his listing up til late in the week, so if I see a potential Characin type, I'll try again for the week after.

Good point. It’s been five business days since I sent the email.

So six days after my email to Aqua Huna requesting two female orange flash a. cacatuoides, I received an ambiguous reply. The message said it was their policy not to ship two females but I could request it anyway. So that is exactly what I did. Two a. cacatuoides will arrive at my door step before noon tomorrow. I’ll let you know if I receive two females. BTW Jeff who runs Aquaticclarity never answered my query. So I took that as a resounding No! But all is well that ends well so if two females arrive tomorrow I will give up my anger. Namaste 🙏
