I concur, you don’t need bubbles if your filter output is pointed up towards the surface. That being said, if it’s not, the bubbles are a good idea. I I can’t think of anything that would speed up your cycle. Patience is the key. :)

So you think I should turn bubbles of or just leave em on any way

Is your filter output adjustable? If so, turn it up towards the surface of the water. If not, keep the bubbles on.

Yes it is adjustable so just point it to top n turn bubbles of ?

For cycling it needs to be 20 29 to 30 deg C; that's 84 to 86 deg F.

I have just realised I typed the wrong temperature range I have corrected it now. Must learn to hit the right keys on the keyboard

Yes, turn the outflow so it's blowing water to the surface. Bubbles are only really for appearance (though if you ever have to turn the heater up to treat fish with ich, then use the bubbler as warmer water carries less oxygen)

My heater on its highest setting on 37 so the highest temp is 77 range that bad ?

It's not bad, it's just that the bacteria multiply faster at 85-ish deg F.

That temp is fine for when you have fish, provided you avoid the few species that need it warmer (eg rams)

However, if your fish ever get ich, the best treatment is to raise the temperature to 86 F for 2 weeks, so if that ever happens, you'll need a different heater.
How big is the tank, and what are the watts of the heater?

I'm wanting to have oranda fish cold water but personally what would you do would you wait to get another heater or just had the one Nd only now

OK, if you want goldfish that's not a problem.

Just to check, you know that the tank needs to be at least 100 litres/26 gallons for one oranda, with bigger being better? (I'm checking because a lot of people don't realise this)

Yes I've spoke to someone on here and I've got 130 litre tank and I can have 2 orandas in mine

Oh, @Deanasue knows a lot and is very reliable. Some members don’t know what they’re talking about and their information can be misleading. I just wanted to make sure. What is your water temperature now?
