it will probably colour up more as it settles in . dont know if its male or female i am not very good at telling the diffrence to be honest.

Just googled this and realised they are the same fish  
each fish has about 5 different names these days it gets very confusing

Te red has begun to come out of of the fishes tails out must be a x ray / pristella tetra

My LFS had some in today they were pretty cheap too will look good when you get a group of them

That's the problem with fishes particularly tetras, they have a lot of common names that are acceptably used depending where you live.
