Angel Issue

Epson salt might be able to get from a chemist, boots, or some food stores.

It's a common cheap drug store item around here.

Just got home and dipped him in an epson salt solution.

He's lost most of the colour from his body in the middle, and is permanently upside down - barely had the energy to wriggle while I moved him to the bucket whilst dosing. On his top (side nearest the bottom, the way he is now) the top inch or so is a murky brown colour.

Just checked on him an hour after I dipped him in an epson salt solution:

Upside down, caught against the filter. Same brown tinge to his top half (bottom as you look at him) and half the body has gone from a strong silver colour to white.

Do I leave him overnight and see how he is in the morning or should I think about putting him out of his misery?

Give him abit longer.
The brown stuff on his does it look fluffy in appearance.
Is he rubbing himself on things in the tank.
Does the brown stuff on him look like varnish, or velvet.

Like varnish. Doesn't look fluffy. It *looks* like being upside down for that length of time, the bloods drained into his top half. Not rubbing himself...not moving at all, apart from the gills.

If he had velvet he would be flicking and rubbing.
If hes laying upside down for long periods it dosn't sound good.
Any red patches or streaking in his fins.

Theres a red spot on his underbelly and his top fin has a patch or rusty coloured area.

How big is the red spot any circling of white aroud the eges of it or a white centre.
If hes not flicking it dosn't sound like velvet.

Are you using a bacterial med.

Didn't look like the red spot in that pic but its by the by now; he didn't survive the night. Will fish him out and look for any obvious signs and finish the course of anti-bac meds (interpet) that I was dosing in case it is something bacterial that the other fish might have caught.

Forgot to say, thanks again.

Aye, me too. The tetra's dropped like flies with the stress of the trip (with the exception of three who survived and one who took a jump) but the angel seemed fine - not active in his temporary home but no great surprise there. Very odd.

RIP little guy.

Sorry bless him R.I.P.
