Angel Fish/gourami - Help!

My husband and I have recently aquired a 55 gal tank. We are rigorously doing research trying to decide on what to stock the tank with. 
 
We are interested in doing around 3-4 angels and 3-4 gourami's in the tank, we have done a lot of research on how these fish do together and for the most part it seems as if they will do fine together, however, I would like to know everyone on this fourm's opinion and personal experience! Thanks!!

I've had gouramis in with angels, was no real problems

I have had angels and gourami together too, no problems, I have an angel in with 3 spot gourami at the moment, until the angel is big enough to join the other angels that is.

ive got 4 angels and 4 gouramis in my tank and they all get along fine

I have a pair of Angels, and a Pearl Gourami in my tank and they seem to be doing fine so far. In fact, the Pearl Gourami hangs out with them both most of the time and sort of copies their behaviour in a way.
 
Just out of interest, what sort of Gouramis are you looking into?
