Ammonia Levels

You said your Ammonia levels ARE high, not WERE high
If you did a water change yesterday and your levels are still showing high then I would strongly suggest another water change but a much bigger one this time. In fact another large water change would be a good idea anyway, I`m no expert but it sounds to me like a 40% water change wasn`t enough.

i will do another water change.

test kit. Its turn yellow - 0ppm was dark green when fist read it. I not sure I waited long enough. I going to do reading again. its got to be the problem.

ok just did water change - will let you now results in morning.

I got of dead leaves/plant bits out. Can you stop the plants losing thier leaves?

Thanks everyone for your input.

a fertilizer may help plants if youre not using one currently, though i think it makes nitrates go up a bit. not sure though. what company is the test kit your using?
