I feel sorry for free pen too; this has hit them hard

free pen; wherabouts are you? We maybe able to help find you suppliers for things Your tank holds about 50 litres, or 10 gallons; so you could have 10 or 12 tiny fish, like some of the tetras or rasboras, or 5 or 6 of those and a few of the smaller catfish like otos or pymy corydoras.

We'd love to help you have some happy, healthy fish that would make you smile!

oohhh i know a great fish to put in yuor aquarium when it starts! try rasboras or danios! (not the big ones) and, watch out for ich!

If you search for 'aquarium test kit' you can see what's available; there are many different kinds; maybe you could get something.

As to why your fish died; did you use anything to get rid of the chlorine in the water before you put it in the tank? And did you clean the filter out with tap water? If you did, you will have killed off any good bacteria that were living in there, and this will be why the fish died

10 gallons is quite small but there are lots of small fish that could live in there very happily (always assuming they are available to you, of course )

I do hope you think about getting some more fish sometime, but totally understand if you don't feel like it

Sorry about your loss. Don't feel too bad, it wasn't really your fault as you were given bad advice from petshop where you bought your fish from.Also leaving zucchini in th etank doesn't necessarily kill them unless it rots. I sometimes do in on e of my tank, leaving the snails to finish it off. Follow the advice other forum members have given you regarding cycling the tank filter before dding fish and stocking suggestions/ Also you need tofeed them less often, only 1 or 2 times day at most.
A few more hints
1. As you live in a hot country and can't cool down the water be aware that there will be less oxygen than at lower temperatures so either keep fewer fish or add an airstone which will oxygenate the water.It also helps to have your filter outlet just above the surface to cause surface movement and bubbles, again adding oxygen to the water . I do this in all my tanks, a useful hint I picked up from forum members when I started keeping fish
2. If you ever see all your fish gasping at the surface again this is a big danger warning that there is very little oxygen in the tank and/or there sre dangerous levels of toxins like ammonia.You need to act fast to save them
- do a big 60-70% water chamge immediately and add dechlorinotr
- clean out your filter, rinse filter sponges in tank water(NOT tap water) and make sure filter is working properly and not blocked.
This happened to me twice this year when my filters got blocked but by doing the above I managed to save my fish

i am in my late 20's

and my favorit fish was blak and white female ballon molly, i wish if she was a live . she was going to be mom

i looked for the kit but i did not understand how to use it and also we dont have it where i live

no i didnt use any thing to get rid of the chlorine coz i use a water from a well not drinking water ( the hole in the ground with water in all the time)

filter ( the white spongy thing that cleans the water??) is so yes i wash it every 2 weeks coz it observes the dirt and extra food from the water then the water drops from the top holes after beeing clean

it is hard to find fish here all the time , the shop always changes the fish and if you are luck you would find what you want . but generaly you will be stuck with goldfish and few that cant live with others

you mean i should put the air ston attached from where the air comes out ?? ( the shop has 3 types of stones which one?)

and how come i put it above the surface, i tried once but the water came out not air. i have to put it under the water so the bublles comes out.

and for the fish , i did not notice them at the surfice coz i was sleeping it all hapen in 5 houres while my sleep. if i saw them i would save them but i didnt


* today i dreamed about my fish and they were swiming and i wake up and run to the tank coz i dont want it to be a dream . but it was a dream . it hapend twice today. ( will they get a live again ???

AIRSTONE is a separate piece of equipment consisting of a pump, long plastic tube and usually a stone with holes in it at the end though you can have longer versions including those which give a bubble curtain effect placed at the back of the tank.All irstones let off constant stream of bubbles to oxygenate the water

yes the filter pump outlet produces a flow of water not air but when the water hits the surface it agitates it and produces bubbbles in the water. For maximum effect use a spraybar attached to filter outlet raised just above the water. The jets of water the spraybar produce loads of bubbles when they hit the surface

Sorry for your losses Free Pen, a 10 gallon tank can have many fish if planned right

if you decide you want to set it up again, we can help you with the cycling process (building up the good bacteria to help the fish live healthily by removing harmful nitrite and ammonia)
