If you are not sure pop it in a cup of water for a week or so. If it rusts its not stainless.

A quick check for most stainless steel is to try a magnet on it. If it does not attract a magnet, it is not mild steel. Of course it could still be silver but I would bet you would know it if that were the case.

if you want cucumber to sink just squeeze it by hand it removes air and the cucumber sinks my red claw crab loves it. was thinking of adding otos but my tank is over stocked as it is but green algae is back.
