just wondering there is no algae in my tank at all dose this mean the tank is well set up or not that good? i have the light on form 7am - 10pm but its spotless? thanks

there are 3 large plants which take up about 30%ish of the volume of the tank i did have 2 chinese algae eaters in until saturday. could it mean i am not feeding the fish enough? thanks

Sometimes it depends where the tank is situated,if the tank is near a window and gets plenty of light,it may become more prone to algae,

Excess nitrate may lead to algae etc, especiallly in the un-planted

My main tank has hardly any algae, yet the 2 10g in the kitchen have more direct sunlight and have more algae in them.

The only time to worry is if you have algae sucking cats, has these need the algae in the tank.

I agree if the tank gets more sun light you will get more algea. I have had all kinds of algea in my tanks and the main reason is I kept live plants but was not good about when to use ferts and My tanks never were balanced. I still have one well planted tank that does not get much real sun and the algea is not a big problem there.

If you don't have algea thats fine it means nothing. Give your water a check if you think something is off. what are your Nitrates?

the tanks isn't in direct sunlight but is near ish a window. i don't have a test kit thats why i wondering about the algae just thought it could be a cheap water chemistry check. i have 5 ottos in the tank i only got them on saturday and they need to eat something i am getting some vegetables for them tonight.
