Hiya! I was acclimatising my new fish for my new 10g and I stirred up the sand with my fingers after getting the danios out of there. A whole bunch of air bubbles came out. Should I be worried? The pH is roughly 8, and a male Betta and a breeding pair of guppies are going in there. I'm adding the betta last, of course. :)

Youve trapped air in the Sand, Nothing to Worry about its only Air ;)

Wait Wait.

Since when did you have so many tanks? :p

Also i'd remove the Betta if you can? Justto be on the safe side!

Have a good new years!

Nooooooooooo, you're just copying what others have said to sound like you know what you mean :p

I'm just seeing how it plays out -- I don't think the female guppy's letting them get too close together. Also, when the male harassed her, she just harassed HIM right back. #41#### charismatic she is, if I do say so myself. Midnight Moon (the Betta) is also quite the champion sulker!

And hmm let's see Knox. I had Tropica (R.I.P., you awesome fish :( ) in a 5g in March.... My mom had her 6g since 2007 or sommat.... We put 2 female Bettas in there.... I got a tank in July.... Set up a 2.5g for Mr. Wimpy Fish shortly after that.... We got our 55g like a month ago.... On Boxing Day I got my new 10g and set it up.... We also had a 2g running for a while with a female Betta in it.

Yep.... My aquarium history goes WAAAAAY back. :p I also had a tiny plastic rectangular tank when I was little. Didn't last too long (after like 2 months my Mom threw it away 'cuz during water changes we kept accidentally pouring the fishes down the drain :p Also, they kept dying on us XD)!

gases build up beneath the sand and if left too long can be poisonous for the fish. stir the sand when doing a water change to release any gasses, the deeper the sand the more often you need to stir it up. i keep mine to about an inch and add a few mts to help turn the sand as these burrow into the substrate. :good:
