After cycle water change questions...

If you add more ammonia it will make more nitrate, so do the water change shortly before going fish shopping - but leave enough time for the temperature to stabilise.

If it will be longer than 3 days, add just 1 ppm every 3rd day.
Ok, I'll do that... My LPS gets all fish shipments in on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so when I special order the fish thats when they should arrive. They say they order them up with all the rest of everything so its cheaper for them and the customer. So I might be able to order up some things over the phone but I don't know... My dads car just broke down out of no where yesterday and my mom said that first we have to see how much that is before buying anything else, which makes complete sense.

If you do another dose of ammonia, you would have to then do another nearly 100% wc.
Get fish as soon as you can once all tests are in proper range and after you do the large WC.

That doesnt make any sense... If I add any ammonia id have to do another wc? How do you do that with fish then? As soon as you see them poop you go: "HOLY SMOKES! ITS WATER CHANGE TIME!"

It is better to do the water change after you finish adding ammonia. Then the fish go into water with the least nitrate possible (tap water level). If you add ammonia after the water change there will be more nitrate than tap water when the fish are added.

Ah, ok... That makes sense. Thanks!

Of course, dont ever add ammonia once fish are in the tank

I know you know that...but a newbie here may not...doesnt hurt to mention it.
