I have loaches (clown and yoyo) who love snails. I've been thinking about setting up a small tank to grow snails for them. My question is what would I need to keep them? Filter? Heater? Substrate? Ect.

Thanks

I'd use a bare bottom 5-10 gallon tank with a simple sponge filter depending on what snail you pick it may or may not need a heater they eat veggies so there pretty easy to care for.

I read that if you keep them warm they'll breed faster, so I'd get a heater. I am trying to find where I read that but no luck so far! :(

Ok, sounds good! I'll be getting the pest snails that come on plants, I can get them for nothing when the tanks at the LFS has an outbreak. I'll get a cheap tank and add a heater and filter. Now all I have to do is hope I don't become attached and view these critters as pets :/

Good luck! When moving tanks around I hate to go through the substrate and pick out as many as I could cause I didn't want to just throw them in the trash :/ I think all snails are cute.

you can use a tub from home depot if you want, but snails still need a cycled tank and a heater and if you dont have a cycled filter just do reg water changes.
