Have a question. Can you add small pieces of actual aloe plants inside the tank instead of using aloe chemicals?

Hello, and welcome to the forum! :hi:

I'm not really sure, I would say just to be safe, use the aloe chemicals. Why would you want to have aloe in your tank? :)

(Please go vote for the July POTM contest, Thanks!) :thanks:

Never put aloe vera in a fish tank, either by using a water conditioner that contains aloe vera (a couple do), or the plant itself. There is evidence it can damage fish gills.

There is absolutely no benefit to using aloe vera anyway, from the perspective of healing fish or their slime coat, which seems to be the thinking behind having it in conditioners.

That is why I was wondering why @KLG wanted to put some in his tank. :)
