So I've been doing some reading about cycling and have seen lots of different things as well as cycling by adding raw unprocessed shrimp to the tank.

I also came across adding fish two weeks apart each.

So I'm building around a betta, this is what they say.

You add one small preferably hardy fish (bettas are ok for this, its a 10 gallon I'm trying)

Wait two weeks. By this a bacteria colony will have formed to easily handle such a small bioload.

Add another fish after two weeks. The existing bacteria will feed off this fish and multiply.

Continue waiting two weeks before adding each fish.

After a few times you can start to add fish after a week or so because you have built up a large enough colony of bacteria. .
:shifty:

I do know the sizes of the fish matter, but nothing will be over two inches.

I'm doing this in a hurry. If you need anything re-written or need to understand something better please post. I'm not even sure I didn't leave anything out.-

there are many posts and sticky about cycling

you should at least get an ammonia and nitrite test kit.

2 weeks for one fish might work out, but if you keep adding fish too soon, your bacterial colony will take a long tiem to catch up.

test your water after a few days and wait for ammonia and nitrite to be at 0 before adding any new fish
