shame you never went top maidenhead aquatics, blackpool any sooner, they had 2 sorubim limas for absolutely ages, about 10 -12 inch's id of said, they wanted about £20 each which is cheap for one of them!
was gonna go to bolton this weekend but running low on the old cash, so not good!
i have 11 catfish, so when i get the big tank i can see a collection of the bigger species coming along! hehe
i'll have a look out for any sorubims and nice bichir's!

Know the feeling on cashflow! Got a 'reserve' for Oscars but little un talked me into another smaller purchase today (I'll put pics in household pets soon) I'm sure we could start a petting zoo soon!

For those interested in a trip to BAS -

Although they are in administration they had big signs up all over today saying they are expecting a delivery on Weds hopefully with most of it available for sale by weekend.

They still had a few unusual bettas, tyre track eels, ompoks, big magnum plecs (one huge adult one) some orange seam plecs (these were new as not there last week) some royals. I didn't look at livebearers or cichlids sorry - I made a flying visit really to pics up something (pics later)

Maybe a TFF North West Meet Up eh guys?

im after extending my group and can never seem to get any anywere! i got the last one from bas last time i went
bas are in administration id be gutted if bas shut down!
been going there since was 8 years old! think im going to pick up a magnum plec, at least 1 orange seam, some of the bettas(if they still have the ones i want)
i hope it doesnt shut down!

Any idea how much the large magnum plec was?

Dave- got sorubim lima's from carlisle, around 10inch for £20 good to see the price is kinda the same accross the board. They had put them in the display tank, took 3 of them 20minutes to catch it. Went down to frankie and bennies in morcambe on sat well nice mixed grill was gorge

The big Magnum was £140, the 4" ones £60, thing the orange seams were £18 or so - lots of them but only about 1" long. Looked healthy enough though. - You could probably negotiate a bit on prices for the magnums.

I really hope they don't close.

Dave - i was after a shovel nose catfish (sorubim Lima) and some sort of Bichir , most likely the ornate as its pretty. They only had Polypterus lapradei in which is bigger than what i'm after. Yeh there stock list is Feb , gave them a call yesterday. I'll still go down like as i wouldnt mind seing the reptiles etc.

Theres Ornates in my LFS £19.99 not too big mind look tiny compared to mine, they were about 5 inch .. cute though

i wouldn't pay £140 for the big magnum, id get the smaller ones for 60, they are nicer when smaller anyway!, gonna try and get to bas withing the next couple of weeks!
im going to pier end of the month, maybe beginning of october, hopefully they will have some nice plecs in!
gonna email andy at bas and ask him what he thinks is gonna happen, if it is going to shut down they wll probably sell off the dry goods before the live stock?? might see if they have any big tanks in stock.

it says in 'The Bolton News' that the administrators are keeping bas open, at least in the short term to see if they can find a buyer.
its been open for 43 years, be a shame to see it go!
hope someone with a lot of money appreciates the hobby as much as us and buys it!
i know what i'd be doing if i won the lottery!

oh dont get me started on bloomin bejeweled blitz! im on detox!
yeah they said they keeping bas open for now so i dont think they would even think of selling things cheap until they knew it was definately game over!
yeah i think i'd be down with a meet at pier at begining of october!
would i be the youngest there?? i hate being the youngest! lol
