5x2x2ft Community For Now.....

Also you need to remember that they are not out swimming mine spends all day curled around my filter intake and so does my polkadot eel they only come out to feed and for a little swim for about 10 mins in the evening and because they are so manouverable a 5x2x2 will be fine imo.

Yeah thats true, you will be able to gauge when it gets bigger weather or not an upgrade is needed or not, it may well be fine. The other thing to consider when it gets large is its bio-load.

I dont think 99% fully grown fire eels will be in tanks smaller than 5x2x2's personally. And, even if they are, that doesnt make it right.
in your fire eel profile you say a 6x2x2 for a adult is fine
the difference between a 6x2x2 and a 5x2x2 is nothing and a fire eel does not need the extra 1ft swimming space
a 5x2x2 with plenty of hiding spots is perfect for a fire eel for life

aren't arowanas like proper expensive as well?
if you really fancy a fire eel, which i do too but some of us aren't blessed with a tank big enough  , you could get a few bichirs to go with it on the bottom.
a clown knife would also look awsome. or maybe a royal clown knife fish... if you can get your hands on one lol
anyway, good lookin tank and i hope you get it stocked how you want it soooooooon :shifty:

Why does the price of arowanas mean he cant have one??? Silver aros are like £40 anyways but he couldnt keep one in there. Clown knife will be far to big for that tank.

I was under the impression that arowanas were like atleast hundreds each, i'm terribly sorry for being wrong there  jeeeze! considering greens are about £100, i'd have thought silvers would be even more. and i've just never looked into arowanas... ever lol
and i never even said he couldn't have one, i simply asked.

Silver are a completley different species of aro the only expensive aros are asian. Which are green upwards.

what did you stock your tank with in the end?

would this tank be big enough for any arowanas?

Whats wrong with that? He's not exactly going to chuck them in the bin, is he...Is he?lol
Aros are definately not cheap though, a lot shops charge ridiculous prices for any kind.

i would of just let the new oddballs dispose of the old stock
silver and australian aros are cheap only £30 at a few inches
if shops are charging more they are takin the pi** as they are peanuts to order in
