36 Hours In Hospital Has Cycled My Tank!

Waterdrop, i havent seen much of his data but from what i understand hes dropping from 5ppm of ammonia to 00 in 12 hours, not too sure about his qualifying week...

I think it may be too late anyway as hes ordered enough fish to fully stock his tank and should be receiving them today. He seems pretty clued up on fishless cycling though so im going to assume hes been monitoring his stats closely and is sure that his tanks ready.
OK, thanks Geoff, like everybody he's basically going to be testing a lot at fish introduction and can just drop into "fish-in" cycling mode if any toxic traces show up. It -is- kind of fun when you go away from a fishless cycling tank and then return to find it having moved along better while you were gone than when you were there, lol.

Yeah well im preparing to leave my tank for a week and see how it affects my cycle - your little experiement.

What i shall do is, add baking soda to keep my pH up, add my plant ferts and dose my ammonia to 7ppm tomorrow morning then ill see whats going on when i get back.

For the record, im currently processing 5ppm of ammonia down to 0 ammonia 0 nitrites in about 16-17 hours.

I'd be inclined to disagree with you Waterdrop, I think introducing that many fish in one go will definitely cause a fish-in-cycle situation.

I don't know exactly how much ammonia that many fish will produce but I'd reckon it'll be more than 5ppm every 12 hours. Of course it might not be but the OP needs to be well aware that introducing a full stocking , even at juvenile size, could over-whelm the population of bacteria. Obviously it'll catch up sooner or later.

But I just wouldn't want them to add all of the fish with the tank having been 'fully cycled', not test for ammonia and nitrites for the following few days and then find the fish start dying.

Hehe, aren't I a gloomy gus today!
