30 Litre Adventure

Hello peeps my man has had a empty 30 litre sitting there since before christmas. The original plans were for a nano marine (this is still in the pipelines) but he has been pondeirng on keeping a fresh water tank first to get used to fishkeeping (sensible me thinks ). So what sort of fish can be put in a 30 litre cube?

He would like colourful or perhaps unsual (no shrimp, guppies, etc) probably not lampeyes or galaxy rasbora either as we have some already and think he may wish something bit different. Any suggestions would be great!

To add this is the list I have come up with, obviously different needs and would look at how many of which species to stock once decided (dont worry not all in a tiny 8g!

white cloud minnows
javanese rice fish
killifish
khuli loaches
otos
dwarf rasbora
pencil fish
sparkling gourami
dwarf gourami

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the bettas are also out as I have owned somewhere in the region of 10 Though you never know he may change his mind.

I would go for the white mountain cloud minnows, some dwarf cories and a honey or sparkling gourami.

Other option: a trio of killifish and to start breeding....

Everglades pygmy sunfish, badids, dwarf puffers, bumblebee gobies, Rhinogobius duospilus, most of the small betta species, most of the assorted mini gourami thingys (spiketail paradise, liquoricey types).

Scarlet badis are lovely looking fish. I read up on them a bit and seems the pretty ones in shops are all male, females hard to come by if you were thinking of breeding, as they are dull looking. Here's a good page I found about them.

Puffers, Bumblebee Gobies, or a couple of shell dwelling cichlids......

endlers or you could try some killis again is this tanks lid is tighter. i would go for the sparkling gourami and a trio of endler.

A pair of Honey Gourami and some small corys would be my suggestion, with a tank that size.
