2025 MLB

I THINK that Cleveland just MAY make the playoffs. LOL! Of course Seattle needs to lose some games for this to happen... ;)

My thinking revolves around Jose Ramirez, as he is the heart and soul of the team. How Jose goes so does the team on offense. Historically, through the Jose career, September is his most productive. Makes sense that it is also Cleveland's most successful month.

LOL! Come on and beat Seattle! It is Seattle that Cleveland needs to beat out.

Gee, I only follow Phillies. My husband probably knows more than he shares 👍 I'm good with that. We're on tv tomorrow! So that's our baseball excitement for the week beside our injuries

Cleveland just keeps winning! Not only are they in strong contention as a wildcard playoff position it is getting to where they can, possibly, still win the division. For the division win they are still 6 games behind Detroit but still have six games with Detroit.

One of the things I love about Cleveland is that they just don't quit. Whether they win or lose they play the entire game hard!

Cubbies clinch a wild.card!
After the 2016 World Series I should hate the Cubs as Cleveland lost in 7 games but I don't. One never knows but I doubt that the Cubs would have won that series if not for Cleveland's starting pitcher, Trevor Bauer, being an idiot and slicing a finger on his pitching hand open working on a drone. He tried to pitch in the series but the umps demanded he be removed as the stitches didn't hold and you could see blood dripping from his hand on TV. Actually I'm surprised that he was even allowed to start the game as the 10 stitches on the finger would have to be considered a foreign substance which is not allowed. :dunno: Still, that was one awesome series! :)

I don't know if Cleveland will make the playoffs or not. Counting the game going on with Detroit they are 2.5 games out of the wildcard with 12 games to go. Cleveland beat Detroit yesterday in Detroit and are up 1-0 in the 5th today. Seattle is losing which helps. If Cleveland beat Detroit and Seattle ends up losing Cleveland will be just 1.5 games out with 11 to go.

Then it gets interesting as Cleveland could possibly still win the division. If they end up winning today and tomorrow they would be 3.5 games behind Detroit. After the Detroit series they then have a series with the Twins which would not a big surprise if they swept. After the Twins they have another series with Detroit in Cleveland and then finish against Texas, again in Cleveland.

Can't say what will happen but it could be an interesting finish for Cleveland... And Cleveland just went up 2-0. No one can every say that they quit playing hard. ;)

Dude that was a great series! Back and forth and every game was good. I still can't believe the Cubs won a WS in my lifetime.
1.5 games back is very doable for you. I hope they focus on locking up the wild card first, then go win the division. Those series with Detroit are the key.

Grumble!!!! LOL! I had a bet with a Cubs' fan at work and ended up having to buy a Cubs' championship hat and wear at work for a week. :(

You may have an opportunity foe revenge .
It is possible but I have doubts about the offense as they are just too inconsistent which is odd as they have some relay good hitters but they, too often, just don't 'string 'the hits.

Left fielder Steven Kwan is a freak of nature and is almost a shoe in for his 4th Gold Glove in 4 seasons. There is even talk that he could get a platinum glove this year. Between Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez the have two of the better hitters in the league and should score more consistency.

You should feel good about the future. Both those guys came up through Clevelands farm system.
I don't keep up with a lot of minor league ball but it sounds like you guys have a solid system of draft and development.

Ya, even other teams announcers have said that Cleveland has the best farm system. The trick is that all the way from the rookie league to triple A they always use the same game plan as the MLB team. This means that a player coming to Cleveland from the farm has a lot less that they need to learn. I don't see why other teams don't do this as it just makes sense. :dunno:

And, once again, Cleveland beats Detroit in Detroit, 4-0. Puts Cleveland 4 back in the loss column behind Detroit with 4 games remaining with Detroit. If they tied I THINK that Cleveland would have the tie breaker.

Cleveland done did it! Beat Detroit today 3-1 to sweep in Detroit. If the Boston score holds (Boston is losing in the 8th) this will put them only 1 game out of wildcard. They are now only 2 or 3 games in the loss column behind the Tigers and have 3 more games with them in Cleveland. Actually, if they are able to take the division, it will be an MLB record comeback as, at one point, they were 15.5 games back. They have currently won 12 of their last 13 games. They just won't quit. Whether they make it or not you have to give credit.
