2025 MLB

Hah, yeah I totally do. Sadly I feel it! Braves are 17 games back, Riley and acuna went down with injuries AGAIN. It is a tough year to be a Braves fan for sure. The Rockies are prob hopeless until they get a manager who cares to actually rebuild the team 😂.

At least my Cleveland team seems to be making a move. A month ago they were 15 games out and now only 6 back with, I think, 48 games left. They are only 1.5 back of the wildcard.

Not saying it will happen but last year the AL Central sent 3 teams to the playoffs; Cleveland, Detroit and KC. Right now the division MAY do it again with the same 3 teams.

The San Diego Padres play the Red Sox tomorrow. The teams have nearly identical won/loss records this year. And both teams are 8 wins and two losses for their latest 10 games. Should make for an interesting series.

And Cleveland starts a series with the White Sox Friday. By rights that SHOULD be a Cleveland sweep but one never knows...

Hate it when this happens but the Guardians game comes on at 5:30 and the Browns at 5:00. I'll probably watch the Browns with no volume and listen to the radio broadcast for the Guardians. Right now baseball takes priority but I do want to see how Shedeur Sanders does at QB and he is supposed to start. Sanders has done well in camp including a scrimmage with 4 touchdowns on the 4th day of camp. I'm REALLY high on Sanders but figure that Flacco will start week 1.

Looking good right now as Cleveland seems to be peaking at the right time. Going into a game later today they are now just half a game behind as to a wildcard and now down to 6 games behind Detroit for the division. :)

And Cleveland wins again to gain another game on Detroit. :) Now 5 games behind Detroit and half a game from the wild card... They are playing some awesome ball.

Hey, I did my dangerous thing as in having a thought. If you had your choice would you rather score the winning run or have the winning RBI?

For myself I think I'd rather have the winning RBI as *I* did it. Scoring the winning run just means that someone else won the game by hitting me in.

LOL! Of course the perfect ending is a walk off homer in the bottom of the ninth as I then have both the winning score and winning RBI. ;)

I'm SOOooo MAD! Cleveland pitchers, Clase and Ortiz, are now under a second gambling investigation.

Due to these two fools Cleveland may as well consider their playoff chances slim to none now being 4 games out of even a wildcard spot.

Cleveland has lost a LOT of one run games due to not now having a closer, Clase, on the field. If Clase was still able to play they would probably, at least, be in strong contention for a wildcard if not the division. While there ARE exceptions, a playoff team has to have a decent closer and Clase was/is the best.

Now here is why I'm really making this post... We'll leave out Ortiz as Clase is the main factor. What happens if Clase is found innocent??? What compensation could Cleveland possibly get from the league for literally killing their season chances? I would suspect nothing.

I just consider the situation to be wrong. I mean, how can you suspend a player that has yet to be proven to have done anything wrong? :dunno: Don't misunderstand me as, if found guilty, ban the fool. Yet, if found innocent, the league killed a team's season for no reason.

What a fun game between Cleveland and Seattle this evening! :) Cleveland was down 4-0 in the first inning and came back to win it with a walk off. They just nibbled away late in the game with 1 run in each of the 6/7/8 innings and walked it off with 2 in the bottom of the 9th.

What made it a bit more cool was that they were celebrating the 1995 Indians team who were known as the 'comeback kids' and won the AL pennant. Even more cool was that quite a few of the 1995 players were at the stadium. It was fun with having interviews with players on the 1995 team during the game. Brought back a LOT of memories! from 1995-1999 they were in the playoffs all 5 years including 2 World Series. Sadly they lost both World Series. If I remember right both WS went 7 games.

Looks like Cleveland isn't quite as dead as I was thinking as to the playoffs. They just took two games from Seattle which is the main team they are chasing. In two days they have gone from 5 games back to 3 and, if they win tomorrow, it would be just 2 games back.

I hope the Cleveland pitchers are innocent of the accusations, but at the same time, MLB is inviting corruption with its relationship with gambling. Of course, there are always going to be fools who think they can get away with everything. We're soon going to see an injured list, and a caught collaborating with gamblers list.

It has to hurt to follow a team where key players get caught up in gambling accusations. If the suspicion is strong, how do you trust them? But if the suspicion is misguided, how do you suspend them?

It's ugly.

The way I see it is that a player should NOT be suspended until after an investigation is done for the simple reason that it is not even known if a player should be suspended until AFTER the investigation.

While Cleveland may still make the playoffs as a wildcard their chances would much better with Clase able to pitch as the closer. With Clase being suspended before the investigation it just does not seem fair to the team as a whole. A playoff team normally needs a good closer and now Cleveland is forced to play without one. If he is guilty ban the fool. But, if innocent, the team may miss the playoffs for no reason. Right now Cleveland is 4 games behind in the wildcard race and have lost at least 5-6 games due to not having a real closer available. For discussion let's say 6 games. If Clase saves 5 of the 6 Cleveland leads in the wildcard race.

It just does not seem right to me that a player is suspended without already being proven guilty.

Yes, I'm partial due to being a Cleveland fan but I truly believe that I'd feel the same if it were a different team. The situation just rubs me the wrong way. I just don't see how it is right for a player to be suspended before anything is proven as to doing wrong.

Then there is the the issue, if Clase is shown to be innocent, and it strongly contributes to their missing the playoffs, what compensation should be given by the league? Personally, even though it will not happen, I think that, if Clase is found to be innocent, Cleveland should, at least, get an automatic #1 pick in the draft.

As we close out this MLB season I'm reminded of the Chicago classic by the late, great Steve Goodman. Have a listen and a laugh, hoist a cold brew in tribute.
