2025 MLB

I rarely spend any money on streaming services. I have an antenna for about 40 channels…I only watch maybe 10 of them. Via my roku tv, there are so many free streaming services, that I have plenty of choices to keep me occupied. If there is a movie that I must see that isnt available for free, I might buy access for about $4. Perhaps for the playoffs I may subscribe for one month of Sling TV orange for $22.
I pay $35 per month for 300 mb/sec wifi as my main expense. I pay about $5 a month for magic jack internet phone service for use with my 5 cordless phones. Magic jack also works on my iphone for free calling when on wifi.
I havent had a cable subscription for 9 years. I estimate that I have saved roughly $16,000 by cutting the cord.

78 strikes, 117 total pitches and he gave up one run for Red Sox starting pitcher Crochet in 7 and 2/3rds innings . Great performance.

Ya, I hear you and that is pretty much my intent. Sadly it just isn't viable for me yet. :( You have to understand that I live in a rather small town and, until Blue Peak reaches my building, I'm sort of stuck with Spectrum.

With Blue Peak, when I can get, I'll still pay more than your $30.00/month for 300 Mb/sec internet but it will be $55.00/month for 1 Gb/sec. Once I have that I can then figure out exactly what services I want but, currently, I don't have much of an option. Even an antenna is iffy for me as I'm on the wrong side of the building as I'm sort of in the boonies. From talking with other residents on my side of the building you do good to get 4-6 channels with an indoor antenna. On the other building side you MIGHT get 8-10. I guess that the building itself interferes with the signal and I'm sure the mountains don't help. Of course, with living in an apartment, I can't put up a real antenna outside.

Even when all things are worked out one streaming service I already know that I'll keep is Amazon Prime. As much as Prime Video is the fact that I order enough from Amazon that the yearly charge more than pays for itself through mostly all free shipping and the subscription includes Prime Video.

I LOVE living in a rather small town but there ARE some disadvantages.

Well boston zapped the evil Yankee in game 1.... now for game 2.... and no i do not watch baseball but i do follow the score sometimes ;)

Do you stream free streaming apps like Pluto, Tubi, Roku channels etc. so much free stuff out there but if you have to access stations such as tbs, trutv, tnt, sports channels etc your savings are limited.
I really believe even 50 mbps for a single household in a small apartment is enough for internet, streaming etc. 1 gbps is WAY overkill… even 100 mbps is not really needed. To stream a 1080p movie really would only require about 5 to 10 mbps.

I agree with you as to Internet speed needed for streaming but what if you are also wanting upload speed? Take Spectrum which gives me 400 Mb/sec dowload but only a touch over 5 Mb/sec upload? I still have two web sites to which I have to do uploads. Now take Blue Peak that will give me 1 Gb/sec both up and down at just a touch over half the Spectrum Price. Why would I not want Blue Peak. Also the higher speeds will reduce by a lot as to my backups. My second desktop is mainly a backup for my data and media drives and both are wired as to their connection. With Blue Peak my backups should take much less time as the bottleneck will then be the speeds of spin drives, not the connection between systems as the new connection would be through their optical router. I at least THINK that by backup speed should be a lot better.

Yea spectrum is very slow for backups uploads.
How often do you do backups?
I have 3 internet companies in my area and speed of all is fine. Having 3 available suppliers results in my having negotiating room to get very reasonable prices.

Anyway, back to baseball... ;)

I don't know why but Cleveland and Detroit tend to play rather odd series. Cleveland won today 6-1 with 5 runs in the 8th. Take away the two unearned runs given up to Detroit yesterday and the series is over. Take away Detroit leaving, I think, 11 runners on base in scoring position without scoring today. After 2 games either team could have easily already won the series.

Take today when Cleveland sat their second and third best defensive outfielders with young and inexperienced players. First inning and the young center fielder drops what should have been a pretty routine play. Then this kid comes up and hits a solo homer in the 1st.

These teams just seem to tend to have odd series. ;)

How often do I do backups? It varies but, on average, I'd say 3-5 times a week as my media and/or data often changes. Keep in mind that, while not full, my media drives are 10 TB on each system. But that isn't really the point.

The point is that I would be foolish to not go with the higher, by 2.5 times download and 200 times the upload,, speed with Blue Peak at just a touch over half the Spectrum price. Why would I spend more for less? Keep in mind that, in a rather small town, you don't have a plethora of options. ;)

Yankee fan here. Ticked about last night because the loss was due to crappy managing. Aaron Boone would be OK as a base coach but is not GM material. I could have done a better job. He really is awful. His decision on starters was wrong, in the playoffs you got with your best then and pulling Fried when he did was a mistake as well. I am expecting another loss tonight for an early exit. :/

I do not believe in all the left/righty match-up crap. A food hitter does well no matter with which arm a pitcher throws. A professi9onal hitter should be able to hit either. He may be better at one of the other. How well did the Yankees hit against a lefty last night when they had a mostly righty lineup?

Let's see what dumb moves Boone can make tonight.

I also question the lefty/rightly aspect but statics seem to back it. I believe the thing is that the ball breaks differently. Say a curve ball is going to break away from a right handed hitter. That same pitch will break to the inside of a left handed hitter.

Another nail biter in the Bronx tonight. 3 to 3 in the top of the 7th. My fingernails are down to nubs.

Yanks pulled it out. Phew!

I know what the statistics say, but they qpw0 say the batter does hit both lefty and righty pitchers. The situation at the time of an at bat matters. And switch hitters have different averages for which way they are batting. What those numbers do not consider is the quality of the picthers they ma face each way.

And then there is this:

AI Overview

Cody Bellinger
is the New York Yankee left-handed batter who performs well against left-handed pitchers, as he had the team's highest batting average against lefties this season. Although he is primarily a left-handed batter, the Yankees have also utilized Oswaldo Cabrera, a switch-hitter, in a utility role and in a lefty-versus-lefty situation.

Key Player:
  • Cody Bellinger: He led the Yankees with a .353 batting average against left-handed pitchers this season.

My secondary team, Tigers, didn't get it done today. Friday & done? My Phillies play Sat against some team TBD. Go Phillies!

Oh well, good season Cleveland. I guess turnabout is fair play. Last year Cleveland knocked out Detroit in the ALDS and this year Detroit knocks out Cleveland in the ALWS. LOL! WE WILL BE BACK!! ;)

Cleveland wasn't going to go far in the playoffs anyway. They have the pitching and defense (normally) but not the offense.
