Hey all

I have just started a new tank for aquascaping and would really appreciate some info. I have been looking through a few of the older stickies on here for aquascaping advice, but there are so many more plants available now and i have been without a planted tank for 4 - 5 years and am a little rusty.

The tank is only half full as the bogwood is still taking in water.

Substrate is clay cat litter (tesco lightweight dust free) and filter is eheim 2213. I have a powerhead on order and will be dosing EI ferts and using pressurised co2 with an atomiser.

Suggestions on plants and layout are most welcome. Stock will only be neons and a pair of blue rams.

Thanks in advance

wow in advance, that woods lovely, as for plants, i think afew crypts could look nice to the left of the tank, stuck behind the wood, and a carpet of something? maybe working from left middle tall crypts to blyxa japonica till about half way across the tank and then ricccia or HC, or another small carpeting plant at the front covering back to where the bit of wood overhangs on the right, on that bit of wood maybe a moss of some type (so many mosses out there) then at the very back right eaither more blyxa or a tall fine leaf stem, or maybe an aponogeton crispus?
i quite like the look of it half full, could grow some anubias and moss on the top of the wood out of the water

I think you've got the same tank as me.

I don't really have any suggestions but that is a spectacular piece of wood you have there.

or maybe star grass to start instead of crypts, i'll steal that image and put it in paint >.> for an idea :L

sorry for the drawing, im not an artist, but you get the idea

Wow that great guys thanks, cheers for the paintshop effort too. Ill have a think about what you said.

I want to have a carpet with some light rocks in the foreground, maybe dwarf hairgrass to riccia on the right. I will try either flame moss or weeping moss and anubias on the wood itself, and ill have a look at the plants you said for background.

the plants are in my sig pic, you can see the aponogeton at the back bwetween the rocks (tall plant) it will grow taller though in a higher tank, and the blyax is just infront if the rock a little

This is what im thinking. I want to add to the hardscape with some rock in clusters with the carpet growing around it. Flame moss and weeping moss on the bogwood and also anubias added on too. Swords or large covering plant in the back right.,, Blyax as recomended too by the rocks.

id use HC for the carpet. although its a pain to grow looks good =] you will always be tweeking it :L
