Zebras - Fishy World Eye Candy !

No offence but are you sure they are Zebra Plecos?
I've hunted high and low and not seen them much cheaper than about £130. People are crying out for them and their are so many wanted ads because people are desperate to get hold of them.
Any hints on where to find them so cheap would be much appreciated by people who are looking for them! :good:

yes they are L46 hypancistrus zebra, 10000000%

if you have hunted high and low i assume you have been to www.zebrapleco.com?

if i was that desperate that would be my starting point trying to buy some.

and lovely fish, mysterious member lol
I didn't mean the photos Mike, I meant the ones that are going for £50 in Essex!
I've joined zebrapleco.com as I've just brought 4 Zebra Plecos!

No problem!
They were under £200 each, so pretty pleased. Just difficult trying to sex them at the moment as they are so small!
Send your brother to Essex with the camera, although I'd be gutted if they are true Zebras!

whoa holy s*it i meant for all 4!! I hope they are a fair size then (sexable).

Do you know where this shop is?

I got them from e-bay, sounds like we overpaid a bit!
They are only about 1 3/4"-2" but we think they are 2 males and 2 females.

fingers crossed for that ratio, that would be a result.

As for overpaying, hey if you wanted them and that was the price then go for it, anything is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay. But there will be a member licking his/her chops at those prices, there is over 2 grands worth of fish in that tank.

Thanks Mike!
We were lucky as the tank set up was only half the normal price so it allowed us that few quid extra to spend on the Plecos!
When they've settled, I'm hoping to get pics so that someone can clarify what sex they are! ;)

why are these plecos so cheap?
a single one round here would cost atleast £150! its kerayzay!

lol never heard of a fish that came in at just under £200 refered to as cheap!

the 'cheap' ones have not been confirmed as L46
 Couldn't agree more! Our bank balance cetainly didn't think they were cheap!!!

well they are truely gorgeous, if only i had the money for a few  and the space, since my guppies keep breeding

£50 i doubt they would be true Zebs. Those images are truely stunning though, good show on the owner remaining anonymous, if they were mine id have done the same. I know there are a couple of people on here who have/breed them.

If i had the spare cash i would make space for another tank to breed them also, as it would be an absolute crime for them to go extinct in the wild.

Couldn't agree more, although to say the numbers bred in the home aquaria can replace the wild population is a pipe dream.

If people are willing to pay nearly 200 squid for each fish (craaaaaaaaaaazy imo) then why would breeders dump them back in the xingu? plus they can hardly eat the dam if they build that.

Stang... you kept that quiet :) :good:

As for the "anonymous" breeder - Fantastic
I'm green with envy - one day... one day :)
