Whats your top 10 fave CA/SA Cichlids?

Heres mine

1. Heros Species/ Severums.... I love them all so cant pick one particular species of the complex, they are big, colourful, fantastic personality, can be mixed with tons of stuff from neon Tetras to Oscars!

2. Andinoacara Latifrons/ Blue Acara/ Gold Acara... i prefer this type of Blue Acara to the common Pulcher, more colourful, slightly larger with a Severum like personality

3. Andinoacara aequinoctalis/formelly known as Sp. Gold Saum/ Common Green Terror... Stunning fish, everything thats great about the Blue Acaras looks...but better again, only let down is the agression....some call these fish 'punks' in that they will needlessly kill, unlike other similar agressive types such as Jack Dempseys.

4. Firemouth complex /Meeki/Ellioti etc... my fave personality in a Cichlid...always angry, but all bark and no bite...hilarious to watch.

Great personality fun to watch them grow from 1" to 8"+ also fun to watch them get their color. They get along with almost everyone in the tank most of the time. The perfect fish IMO.
2. *Bolviana ram*
look at that face. And the blue acara head.

I have had my ups and downs with these fish. Breeding issues one being aggressive and killed a ram. But I really like female she is a great fish.
6. The Jag
I think my next adventure in cichlids will be with Jags they are really growing on me. It will be years from now till I redo my stock but if I do these guys will be it.
7. Smiling acara
so cute great for planted tanks
8. T bar cichlids
they are so pretty
9. Pikes
they all are so neat and just stuning.
10. True parrot cichlid
OMG amazing looking fish would be higher on my list if I know one personaly but I have never seen one in real life.

Its impossible for me to compile a list! I just love them all, I have a big soft spot for my Rotkeils though those being my first propper cichlid. My Texas are just a big group of clowns.

Can't really compile a 1-10 list as they all have their own personalities but I love:

Oscar - such clumsy, messy, friendly, personable fish
Bolivian Ram - beautiful, colourful dwarf species
Severum - never kept one but they are lovely coloured fish
Green Terror - truly stuning fish, shame about the aggressive nature though
Keyhole - spunky little guys, the males are gorgeous
Blue Acara - very pretty fish
Pearl cichlid - gorgeous colouration, pity one didn't get on with my GT

Many others, but can't think right now.

well number 1 is easy has to be severum, im with minxyfishy on this 1 having had sevs nothing else is quite as good.

ooooo good topic!

1. Heros family, love all of them but at the moment if I had to pick one it would be sp. Belem, love the blue head and the name  Also loving the mouth brooding severus at the moment but more on that later ;)
2. Nics - in particular female I just think the colouring is astounding, love mine to bits as well
3. Krobia sp. Red Cheek rio xingu
4. Geophagus, majority of them especially those similar to Surninmensis and Altifrons due to the Alan Rickmanesc face :)
5. Laetacara - Curviceps, Dorsiger and sp.Buckelkopf - fantastic dwarfs that you dont see often enough in the hobby, though curviceps are breaking through at the moment.
6. Biotodoma - the cupid cichlids, think I prefer Wavereni at the moment but interesting family with lots of new discoveries coming at the moment :)
7. Angelfish - particularly like high quality blacks and platinums at the moment
8. Dwarf pikes - Regini, Wallaci and Compreciceps
9. Acarichthys Heckeli - Similar reasons to liking them as the geos but put off by the aggression, Im sure they are just "misunderstood" but just hear far to many horror stories.
10. Herichthys sp.Pantepic - only saw these for the first time the other day and was blown away!!

To be honest though, kind of got stuck after the pikes at 8 lol :) I dont know I guess I dismiss fish I know wont work ever in my tank real quick so I dont know much about some of the real big stuff.

Good topic though :)
