Well as Simon has recently found out the JBL appears to not need any modding for it to fit on a standard bottle.

Just got my bottle tonight and it went on straight away with no hassle, confirmed that the rubber seal fitted into the valve on the bottle and on it went - took Simons handy tip about releasing some gas prior to attaching.

It should lastway longer than the original :D and it was free so another bonus! most places appear to rent them to you for a few £'s but my dad managed to get this free for me when his local were arranging a delivery.

So either JBL have changed the reg thread or the confusion was down to UK - US thread sizes?

Yep that should definatly keep you going for a while........its big......it should give you a weight on it, TAR weight i think its called, to tell you how much is in it, id say you are looking at over a year on that bottle.

Im just looking at your Pinpoint PH monitor in the pic, ive been reading up on them and i beleive you should only use them away from any sources of electricity as magnetic fields can really throw the readings off to quite a degree, where did you buy it BTW, did you buy it over the web?

Zig, not sure on the volume of the bottle as the markings have taken a beating although I can make out 15KG and 80KG ?

As to the Pinpoint I got it from an online place called KoiKit for £67. I've also seen a few things about the magnetic issues but only found that to be a problem when the cable was running in at the same point as my lighting cables. Since moving the probe next to my inlet - outlet pipes I haven't noticed any readings changing at pulse times [lights on/off]

Even when the meter readings swung due to the lights coming on it was only by a couple of points i.e. 6.66 would suddenly read 6.62 etc and would steady off and resume to normal after a couple of seconds. The bulk of the issues seem to be from running the unit on mains supply so I didn't get the mains adaptor.

If I'm being really truthfull though the meter could be deemed as another toy but I have found it to be very usefull when understanding the relationship between CO2 - PH etc as it allows for finer tuning than a test kit would offer especially when assessing how long the CO2 needs to be going for

UV tends to be running 24/7 as I have seen that running them intermittanly can reduce the tube life although don't always believe what you read eh?

I got it when I bought my 55G and see it more as a nice to have than a must have.
