I agree, definatley not the clown loach, but khulis are nice and you can get a decent sized shoal in a 30 gallon.

the tank has 5 neon tetras, 2 hachet fish, 1 rasbora (others died :(, 2 cory cats, 3 black neon tetras, 1 congo tetra, 2 Gold Pristella Tetra, and an bala shark (thats has to go gets too big). sooo how many??

and i would also like to get a cleaning crew of shrimp. what kind and how many?

i would get some more corys boost the shoal to 6 i would say and rehome the bala shark also get a few more of each tetra IMO
also about shrimp a few amano shrimp maybe because cherry shrimp or something similar would breed and then you would have about 50 in your tank

EDIT- hav u thought about a plec because they are quite good cleaners and interesting to watch

4 months. any ideas on cooool fish or invertibras that will be nice in the tank??

thanks for the help guys

I would start off with something cheap like ghost shrimp first. Just to see if your fish are going to make them a snack or not. And if everything is ok, then invest in the more expensive shrimp that you want :)

I've got a group of chain link botia which are awesome! maybe they would look good in there?

Actually, the answer to your question is yes.
Contrary to the half information you were given, you can in fact add clown loaches to your tank if you wanted. Provided of course, you are able to give them the required parameters.
While the will eventually outgrow your current tank, that will take many years. Clown loaches ar one of the slowest growing fish in the hobby. 1" per year is not uncommon. Which gives you a long time before needing to upgrade your tank or rehome them.
