Plecos can kill. and they will clean up any dead bodies they find. but my guess is the Kooli has gone native. its in you substrate, under-something. put plain, hiding.
some years ago i got two. one died, that day. and i could not find the other. P@H refunded for both. lol, got a shock one day, some 12 months later. when one just appeared in the tank. turns out they can be the very definition of stealth.

not saying its deffo still ok. but it could well be.:hyper:
chin up :good: :good:

i doubt the plec would kill it, it might have died through stress or got trapped in which case the plec and other fish would clear up the carcase and ive had fish disappear never to be seen again, all my ottos went like that, never a dead body but yet no fish :look: it might turn up, put some food in :S

I had an otto go missing for 2 months! He turned up, A tank cracked, had to put the oscar in the main tank and he ate my otto! I was a little angry!

i have found they are quite shy in smaller numbers. try upping the number to at least 6 and have loads of hiding places, they feel safer and will venture out. i had loads and they were very funny to watch.

hi just to let u know that my plec hasnt eaten my kooli loach as i see it last night,it has buried its self under sum plastic weed i have in my tank.when i see it anyone would have thought i had won the pools coz i was well happy.thanks for all replies recieved. :good:

They can bury themselves in gravel! So yes it is a possibility its also possible hes been eaten! You might not see it for a long time but if its alive it will show up! As said try and get a few more to entice him out! :hey:

Glad to hear your little chap is safe and sound! I have kept various plecos for over 20yrs now and have never known one to eat any of my other fish. So don't worry if he vanishes again!
