World Cup 2026

I much prefer American football 🏈. Much more entertaining for me than soccer.

That's just coming from a different culture. I've never made it through an NFL or CFL game. You go for a pee on one of the endless breaks between plays and you never go back.

Soccer caught me out of left field, because we never played it here. I like the build up and the work that has to be done to score. I also like the international flavour of it. It's easy to be the best if you make up the game and only play it yourself, but that's boring. So many countries and cultures try to excel in international football. I'm glad Canada is becoming better, at least enough to actually score goals in the big tournaments.

Your favourite sport is like your favourite religion - usually determined by where you grew up. You can't convince people, and I wouldn't bother to go on the NFL discussions here now, as they don't need to hear what I think of their game. I save that for World Cup threads.

Leaks destroy most conspiracy theories. Great secrets revealed let you spear the people in your career path! Plus every workplace has honest people with integrity, although in most conspiracy tales they aren't let in on the fun and games.

I'm just going to enjoy the remaining games and miss the show when its season ends. It's had great plot twists.

I read that the cup this year is the first time since the competition started that the top four rated teams in the competition are still there at the final four games. I was born in England, so would hope for a win, but am not really fussed. I am a member of Hampshire cricket club.

I liked France, but Spain winning and being presented the cup would be fun to see, given recent pronouncements at the G-7. Just for the sheer badness of it.

My relative who grew up in US married a woman from Spain and they have lived in Spain for the last 30 years. He has dual citizenship. He’s quite excited for the Spain win. Now I have a team to root for in the finals.

Oh hi there. 👋

Just a brief heads-up: the Argentina-England rivalry is for the history books. 1986's quarterfinals was quite infamous because of Maradona's Hand of God goal and the Goal of the Century four minutes after it. And this year, Messi is facing them for the first time in his World Cup career.

A very stop and start game against Argentina with them being the better team on the pitch. I was quite shocked at Tuchels defensive subs with 30 mins to go especially against the current holders. Definitely took the advantage away from us.

However the thing that disappointed me the most was the BBCs pre match buildup. Of course they can talk about and show previous fixtures but bringing up the conflict between the two countries was uncalled for. Politics doesn’t belong in sport.

Anyways a very good final is in place!
vamos Espana! ;) 🇪🇸

England - France for 3rd place should be good as well.
I agree, England got too defensive. They should have left the attackers in and kept pushing. Before the subs Argentina had no momentum.

Tuchel's choices after the England goal was mind boggling...absolutely bizarre 😳

Puedes hacerlo España!
