I am so happy! I cycled the tank in about a week! (I seeded the 10 gallon with substrate and filter media from my 55 gallon). And for those of you who have helped along the way: Thank You!!!
Oh, and my lps carries ghost shrimp only once in a while, but an out-of-the way lfs, but a great one, gets shipments in every week! I have decided to add the shrimp into the tank to accomplish 2 things: If the DPs don't snack on them, they are a great clean-up crew and are interesting to watch; If the DPs do snack on them, they are a nice weekend feeder!
I realized that 5th graders know all about the "circle of life" and have seen another teacher feed worms to a turtle, so a few shrimp would be ok.
