Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I now have 2 lonesome female cockatoos and one lonesome male agassizi Apisto. If I put them in the same tank will they:

a) fight
b ) interbreed and create ninja superhero Apistos
c) keep each other company but not do either a) or b )
d) none of the above (please specify)

Thanks for any advice!

Sarah

They would most likely create hybrids, and for that reason any fry shouldn't be given away :) If interbreeding keeps occuring between apistos and the offspring get sold to people and breed with other apistos, there would eventually be no more 'pure' species of apistogramma left in the market :D

So if you do end up with hybrids, try not to distribute them, althouh I'd love to see what they'd look like

Hmm. I think that they would create a hybrod. A little side note: my breeder had a few batches of fry be born without tails! Turns out that she had high nitrites in the tank. Looks like fishies have a little more to worry about than being bi-racial

Hmm, okay, i think I'll stick 'em in together and see what happens. If they do breed I expect most of the fry will get eaten by the other tank occupants anyhow. I'm not deliberately trying to breed them, and I won't sell or give away any, I just want them to be happy fishies! (and I feel so guilty that all the swapping around lately killed their proper mates - I'm a baaaad fish mummy :( )

Thanks guys!
