Dont flame angels nibble corals? I want one but dont want them nibbling
Yes but if they are fed enough through the day that dont ive seem to find, well hes cut back loads.
Tbh option 1 sounds ok to me only 2 more chromsis sounds not much of a change lol, plus look more like a shoal.

i have read a lot about flame angels and everysite tells me they are reef friendly.......

Scott Michael notes in Angelfishes and Butterflyfishes (Reef Fishes Volume 3) that individuals are known to munch on corals (soft and hard). It is not a definite they will, but some will.

so its a bit the same as most cichlids one oscar may rip everything to death one may be soft.

yea some flames nibble corals you just got have luck when choosing lol
also it was only a minor change to tank stocking as i dont know if opiton 1 was overstocked or what.. if you know what i meen?
also i have read somewhere that the flames what nibble only nibble on hard corals is this true

Well if your that worried id stay off one, save your money and prehaps leave ur list with one less if not choose another kinda fish. Mine used to and still a little attacks hard corals but on encrusting hard corals such as brains.

Am i right in thinking that chromis are one of the few schoaling reef fish? If that is so you may be more successful with the 5 chromis, and perhaps leave the fire angel out if it is a coral nibbler.

my flame as been in my tank with my corals for a week now and so far he wont even go near the coral, he tries to eat the algea off the glass other then that he only eats the food i put in, im sure if u feed ur fish enough they wont bother and of the coral

With the greatest of respect, you are basing your observations on owning the fish for one week, whereas Scott Michael consulted with a number of experts as well as keeping many species of fish himself before writing his books.

I do not believe just feeding more will completely prevent a natural coral grazer from taking the occasional nip. As stated above, it is pot luck. You may get one that will not touch corals, you may get one that will do a lot of damage.

In fact in nature they feed on algae, hard corals and ascidians, with algae forming the bulk. http://fishbase.org/TrophicEco/FoodItemsLi...FTOKEN=64200232
I have read that since the animals uncommonly feed on coral in nature and are naturally algae grazers, that feeding them plenty of preferable food will prevent them nipping at corals. Still, the ocassional pick can and should be expected with any angel.

i will be going with option 1 but i would like to know is that stock size fine with my tank size?

also i am going to keep a flame as they are my favourite fish also my lfs keep all flames with corals to make sure they dont coral nip if they do they put it in another tank so you know wich do and dont nibble at corals
also what corals suppodelsy to flames like to nip at as i am not going to be keeping hard corals it will be soft corals and lps? i think like poylps, torch corals and toodstalls would these be ok with a flame anyway ?

Yeah, I tried a flame angel... Then even being fed 3 times a day the little brat turned on my open brain, pocillipora, and stylophora corals. Took him about 3 weeks before he decided to go after the corals but he did. There are some (like all 3 I had that got nipped) corals that are more likely to be flame-angel targets, but it really is a roll of the dice. And let me tell you, when you roll wrong (like I did), catching the little bastage will be the least fun thing you've ever done with your aquarium.
