Is fish keeping so expensize. I go into pets at home for a single weed and spend £40. 2 male guppies, ornament, white gravel, plastic bush plant, 3 live plants, air stone, thermometer,air hose,algea scruber, apple snail.

Now i need a light for the new guppy project

why are the guppie's so blimin darty they are going mad but sepperatly

It's expensive because it sometimes turns into a "pokemon" mentality. You fish you don't have, and you have to have it.

Of course your community is stocked and your other tank will eat it, so you need a new tank, filter, heater, lights, stand, plants, and it just doesn't look at home without a few other fish in there... I've walked into a store to buy one danio, priced at 64 cents, and walked out having spent over $300.

i started by accident.i was given a complete 30 gal setup with a stand,goldfish and a newt.now i've completely redone it with different fish,rocks,etc.still have the newt and now i have a 60 gal that bought and i can't tell you how much money i have wrapped up in both of them.i don't regret it a bit.

Even in Rand and Cents, That sounds extremely expensive to me...... (approximately R600).... No ways!!! think they saw you comming.... Just do not balance out.... Keep your slip and query that.

They didn't see me coming. The fish stores know me enough not to bother me. I come in, stare at tanks for a while, and either leave or come get a clerk to pick what I want.

When what I decide I want is a 55 gallon tank, stand, filter, and half their plant stock, all the better for them .

i know what you mean i started off b uying a 3ft tank as a pressie for my girlfriend but whereas she has had them before i hadnt so i became obsessed. tank is now mine lol and i am waiting for my upgrade or should i say the money for it lol at the same time trying to convince her that we really do need 2 tanks at least!
