Why the *?!

Reading some posts here, I notice that some people put an asterisk in place of the e when writing about plecs. Now i think about it, i've seen it done on other sites too.

Can someone tell me why please?

I expect there is a really obvious solution and im gonna look like a right numpty for asking!

Its just a silly supersticion thing- some people believe if they write the "e" in pleco, their plec will die or get deseased or somthing

There was another post a while back about this and that is the only reason I know the answer. I had never heard it before then but supposedly there is a superstition that if you type out "pleco" with the "e", you pleco will die. I can't remember where that is supposed to have come from but that is the reason. I don't have a pleco so I don't have to worry about that.

i always though there PC had filtered it as a swear word or something..

dunno my 20 odd plecs seem to do ok spelling with an e
