Why is America behind other country in new fish breeds?

I'm watching a Japanese vid on plants..and the guys camera zooms in on some Corydoras with a HUGE curved sailfin..the equal of the better Goldfish. I've seen quite a few things in Asian aquarium shops,German,Netherlands and maybe Russia of fish and plants never seen here. How are we last in line with new breeds and new plants?

Maybe the Americans prefer natural original shaped fishes instead of man made mutated monstrosities commonly found in Asia.

Long fins on fish can impair their swimming and make life more difficult for them.

As for plants, there are lots of plants sold in pet shops all around the world and many of these are marsh plants that do not belong in aquariums.
