Aren't three of those items in your poll by API, including the freshwater one at Wal Mart? I was not aware of API having different sets other than freshwater and marine.

But I would recommed the API Freshwater test kit to anyone that asks. For the money you get HUNDREDS of tests, and most users on this forum are very familiar with those tests and can offer advice as needed.

JBL (Liquid) for me, expensive at around £105 but shop around and you can find it for £75 in some places.

ive tried API,nutrafin and salifert...and i must say the salifert seem the best so far for me. with API close second. Never got a decent reading on Nutrafin.

Perhaps you could try breeding test kits, and sell them on eBay?

Tell me about it..chief test tester ! gone through API nirate, API Ammonia, Nutrafin Ammonia so far... Just ordered a Salifert Ammonia from fleabay. due to arrive tomorrow.

Whoah - for the money I will stick with API. In US dollars it looks like you would spend $100+ for the four main tests, 60 tests each. Does that sound right?

Bought it last week for £75, real good bit of kit (tests for 12 different things) and the double you up on all liquids so will last roughly 2 years, I'd expect the reading to be spot on with this kit and you can narrow down the PH to the nearest point using different liquids.

My opinion is always you pay for what you get.

My opinion is always you pay for what you get.

Depends if you have fish that have special requirements really, for a tropical freshwater tank i dont think you need to spend more than £20 on a test kit, be it the API or Saliferts, Marine however, i would guess there is a little bit more involved. I suppose if you are changing your water parameters they are also more useful with pinpoint accuracy. A £20 kit should last a lot longer than 2 years, once the tank is up and running, fully cycled, its really not necessary to test it all that often.
